Job Vacancy @ INSTeG. Apply Now!!

Job vacancy  and work offer are hard to come by these days. Lots of it going to the preparation of the upcoming PR I guess. Not really senseless when you think of how suddenly we are one very wealthy country going all out donating here and there. Ha, now I see why some people ask if I'm "Oren" or still "Merah". I just have been reading too much novels with conspiracy coiling in every corner. Thank God it will be Ramadhan soon; I can spend as much money on books as I want. Yeay!!

Anyway, INSTeG (Institut Sains dan Teknologi Geospatial) needs some people; a secretary, and a couple of Research Assistants. Gaji minimum RM1500. Not much..I know..but if you are a student here in UTM, with low price-ceiling on food, low room rent, low fuel consumption, no electrical and water bills to be paid, add that with MyBrain and whatever scholarship you have, you are one wealthy student. You just have to show up 8am-5pm every workdays and we have fast internet connection here.

Spread the word, do me some favour, send your resume to mazlanhashim@utm.my and dont forget to cc to ainmesri@gmail.com (just in case he forgot to check his mail).

Thank you.

Nota: RA applicants with intention untuk sambung Master sangat dialu-alukan.

Nota2: PA work will start (hopefully) on 1st August 2012.

We seek to be understood, to be seen as what we are,
But we put a facade so thick and a performance crying for an Oscar.
To what end?

Running Man News (as copied)

Last week, when contacting Running Man’s crew, they were very shocked to hear that Singapore’s Chinese newspaper (Lian He Zhao Bao) wanted to interview them. He even doubt it. When our reporter told him that Running Man is very popular in Singapore, he commented that he was very shocked and he was glad to know that Singaporeans loved this variety show. Hence, Singapore’s reporter went to Korea for 6 days. They went to SBS building to interview their producer and two of their VJs. Running Man’s producer PD Jo has produced “X-man” and other popular variety show. He is also being known as one of the better PD. PD Jo said “When the programme first started airing 2 years ago, the rating was less than 10% and a lot of citizens criticised it. However, due to Yoo Jaesuk, the other members and the crews’ encouragement, we were able to pull through.” PD Jo also said “I think Running Man is popular not only in Korea but in other countries is because of the bond between the Running Man casts and the crews, if the casts and the crews does not have such bond, the programme might not be able to last till now.”
When Running Man first aired, the rating was very low and many citizens scolded PD Jo. He remembered there was this citizens who said “Inviting Korean’s most famous MC Yoo Jaesuk and be able to make this show so lousy is not easy too.” PD Jo said “At that time, Jaesuk oppa drank with me to encourage me, after going through this hardship, we became closer, and we are like one family now.”
PD Jo introduced the other 2 producers. He said that the production team and the editing team will hold an ‘idea’ meeting every week to discuss about new game ideas. Sometimes, they will also think of the guests while planning the games. For example, in the recent episode, Running Man invited Manchester United’s Park Ji Sung, hence they had a “Superpower Soccer” at a soccer field.
PD Jo highlighted that about the issue of keeping a secret. All the casts and crew members does not know the theme beforehand, this way, the filming will be more interesting and real. Hence, the production team does not let the casts participate in their meeting. To keep it a secret, when a cast suggested a good idea, the idea will be use after 6 months, when he/she forgot about that idea.
As for the idea of tearing of nametags, PD Jo said “When we were young, we used to play hide-and-seek and we would use our hand to grab other people’s hand or hit their shoulders. We decided to use the tearing of nametags to let the audience know what is really going on.”
Running Man usually filmed at public places such as Departmental Stores, Museum, Arts Theatre, and National Library. When the reporter asked will the production team have any difficulty in trying to gain permission, PD Jo replied “Usually, Korea’s Museum or National Library have their day off during Monday, and coincidentally, Running Man usually films on Monday, so it is easier for them to arrange. Also, ever since Running Man became popular, many companies contacted the crews as they want to promote their buildings.”
When running alongside with the casts, the VJs are Running Man’s true supporting pillars. Two of the VJs (Jaesuk’s and Jihyo’s) are being interviewed. They commented that even though the filming process is very tiring, the overall atmosphere is good, which gives them a sense of achievement and happiness.
Yoo Jaesuk’s VJ , Kwon Ryul said “The VJs and the casts have to be involved in the game, the casts should not be found because of the VJs. Hence, no matter how cramp the hiding place is, the VJs have to hide in order to film their respective casts which can be quite challenging. However, the audience would encourage me in Twitter and I would want to strive to work harder.”
Jihyo’s VJ also commented “Because of the hot weather these days, stamina poses a huge problem and because the VJs have to run with a cast and hide, it can be really tiring. This is especially so when filming Kim JongKook, who has such a good stamina.”
The reporter then asks around how many cameras are needed to film Running Man. Jihyo’s VJ then replied “Every time we will have around 11 VJs, so at the very least we will have 40 cameras, the most will be around 70 to 80. This is to ensure that all kinds of angles are being captured by the cameras.
The reporter then asked about fans wanting to invite Yoon EunHye on Running Man. PD Jo was shocked when he said “Wow, bravo! This scandal was from X-Man, so how did Singapore fans know about it? There are many fans who wanted EunHye to appear in Running Man. If she is willing to come, we are glad to welcome her.”
When asked if Running Man will come to Singapore to film, PD Jo replied “We have 120 people, which includes the crews and the casts. If we want to film overseas, it will cost at least 200 million Korean Won. Just recently, Running Man have been to Thailand, Beijing, Hong Kong which are all Asian countries, if the circumstances allows, they might really consider to film in Singapore and they hope that Singapore fans will welcome them.
Running Man first aired in 11 July 2010 and today will be their 2nd year anniversary. Running Man is still a hot topic nowadays. One of the good points in Running Man is that it introduces new games such as “The hanger game” and “The moving photo frame”. They also invent different version of Hide-and-Seek.
The casts and guests are also daring when playing games. Hence, the crews are then able to come out more interesting games such as to test their limits in diving, or the casts have to conquer their fear of heights. The punishments for Running Man are also interesting and funny. The bell hide-and-seek is the highlight in Running Man. Even though it has been played many times, the crews are still able to invent different version, hence enhancing Running Man. For example, there will be spies in each team, and they have to do different kinds of mission or the guests will have special power. They will also decide the sizes of the nametags by playing other games. The casts have to unify or betray each other, hence making it more interesting.
Humorous and lively MCs also added colours to Running Man. Being known as the nation MC; Yoo Jaesuk is the main pillar of Running Man. He’s being loved by many due to his humorous and nice character. The other 6 main casts, Ji SukJin, Kim JongKook, Ha Dong Hoon (Haha), Kang Gary, Song JiHyo and Lee GwangSoo also have their own unique styles. They have excellent bond between them and they would tease each other which create sparks, which is the reason why there are many audiences who keeps watching Running Man.
One of the reasons for Running Man to be this popular is also because of the “Superstars effect”. Running Man have invited many Hallyu stars which includes Lee Hyori, SNSD, T-ara, Se7en, Miss A, etc. Running Man also showed the natural side of these idols. For example, Big Bang used to sit inside a helicopter and the casts went to Nickhun’s (2PM) Thailand house, which attracted many viewers.
One of the admin in RunningManCast was being interviewed. RunningManCast have created different social path such as Twitter, Facebook and Blog to share Running Man’s newest information to the other parts of the world. RunningManCast has a total of 11k’s followers, which include one of the producers of Running Man.

IF

::One of my favourite poems is by Rudyard Kipling - If. I dedicated this to You, it is the least I can do, in hope you can draw strength from it like I do. Time is hard, yes. Now, it is. But it will gets better.::

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I Watched a K-Drama Yesterday

I found it unfair that when we watch movie / drama, we tend to only sympathize with the protagonist and hate the antagonist wholeheartedly. When I was little, I was told of fairytale full of pure princesses who are perfect to a fault being ill-treated by the blue blood evil stepmothers / witches who were evil because they are evil, self-serving bitches, no reason asked.

But we live and we learn. "In every evil man is a kindness that will be the undone of them." I'm quoting that of the quote quoted in a novel I just read (The Burning Soul by John Connoly). It does not written that way but it is somewhere along that line. I forgot who the author quote. And psychologically, nobody is born evil. It's a reaction to what life serve and show them. Of course, there are people who turns out okay regardless of the hellish childhood, but somewhere along their road, they might have some inspiration that turns them good or they are just those rare people with ultimate faith. "Man will become mean when they are threatened." Again, I cant recall who said it. I think it's the old, dying professor named Morrie in Tuesday With Morrie by Mitch Albom.

Coming back to the what I'm talking about before, the unfairness where blame is concerned touch a nerve. I have met people, kindhearted one who wouldn't hurt an ant, but sometimes, even when you have tried your best to make everyone happy, you just end up hurting them or some bystanders. Even when you decided you'll just be an observer or you just decided not to care anymore about anyone, someone will still get hurt. Some people just sail their way through and not think much of the collateral damage because if you think too much, you'll just end up being in a psychiatric ward; some people gave up trying to care for anyone and protect themselves and themselves only because (s)he has lost faith in others. Life is complicatedly simple and add that with human being being simply complicated, I found it unfair to just judge people from one point of view.

One might do something bad. (S)he might has been lost so long (s)he can't find the way back home. We might not be able to save him/her. But putting all the blame on that one person is a little bit too much for my taste. Life can be cruel, choices might become vague for fear of the consequences of our choices. We live a different path, we face different walls, we fall in different pits, we are forced to make a different choice, that sometime, we just got so lost.

I think I get too carried away. Aren't I? T'makan cili la tu..>.<''

Anyway, if watak utama is the bad people (turning good in the end of course but a bitch at the start nonetheless), audiences would sympathized with him/her and root for him/her all the way through and through. Must be because his every actions are 'explained' and his every emotions captured. Which is why, we just shouldn't judge people because we don't live in their shoes and we don't share their sinking boats.

I'll end that with a song from Linkin Park.

"When my time comes forget the wrong that I've done and don't resent me. I've taken my beating, I've shared what I've made. I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through. I've never been perfect but neither have you."

A Sorry Sight

Saw a lone eagle(?) today. It was probably hurt. When tried to approached, it flew away. Not far though; only up on the branches of the nearest tree. Must be so scared..and lonely. It was such a pity.

Treats or Tricks

" I just want to help you dear stranger,
For you are unwell and unfit to live;
Give me your golds and surrender your soul,
Else you can't have what heaven I could give."

Hail the Saint of Trickery
The master in spinning truth and lies
Weaving ever so seamlessly
Into the most beautiful veil of trust.

He shifted fear and shifted faith
Tore the fragile cloth of esteem
Draped you with his woven says
Oh, so beautiful a creature you can be!

Hail the Saint of Trickery
Hail the Saint of Trickery
Hail the Saint of Trickery

The Prophet

In the moment of rare clarity
The light consumed all that eyes can see
The air smells like old trees and fallen burning leaves
I feels the presence of godly spirit
Lifting me from the suffocating pit
Whispering,
    " O kindred soul
     You are the chosen one
To lift all human kind like I lift you now
From all that is evil and from all that is bad."

He, though I can't see
Is warm like a morning beam
Is soft like the purest silk
Whispering,
    "O the chosen one
Kill he and he and she and she
And their brethren and their babies
Take their land and cut down their trees
Burn their houses and slaughter their sheeps."

The Visit

His plight has been ignored
For years and years that eats away the age
And for years and years more that will come

Then one fine day he claimed
One of your most cherished
Will you learn?
From the loss; from the unbearable pain?

The Last Lecture

Because I have just finished Tuesday with Morrie, The Last Lecture doesn't really caught my attention. So I put it down after a few pages. The question is the same anyway, what if today is our very last day?

Death visit us 70 times a day.

There are tons of things that I HAVE to do. Unnecessary feelings aside, I'll try to do one at a time starting today. Or when I got the courage. >.<"

The candle has been burnt
Leaving nothing but hardening wax
And a black wick, lifeless
Darkness will set
Till the first bloom rise

Regret

Dont regret your yesterday; the time wont turn around for you, nor will it wait while you wallow in sadness and self-pity. Anger wont help; it will makes you hate, and hate in turn will makes you suffer. So keep your spirit aloof and let it helps you sail across life. It IS a rough sea but keep your faith. Well, a very calm sea with no wind wont get you nowhere. So, enjoy it while you are still on board. pfft ^o^

::Currently still engrossed in Tuesday With Morrie::

Ethically Importance

I received a text: "Pls receive call on your hp, when call. It is ethically importance"

So I called back.
Me : Mr X, I was praying when you called. I'm sorry.

Mr X: Saya tak kisah awak nak pergi mana, tapi kalau saya call, awak kena angkat.

Ethically importance? Really? First, wait, no, I'm not gonna bash on the grammar; I'm not good enough. Second, how important is he that the importance of praying dzuhr has gone second after taking his call? I called back anyway. And talking about ethically importance, what about calling and texting me at 5.30am, 7.30pm, 10pm, all those odd hour, workdays or not?? And I'm not paid OT. Grrr...

The Running Man

Thinner is not exactly my type of book though the issue makes a good reading; which is why I never really looking for any of the book written by Richard Bachman although I'm aware that Stephen King is one of those very famous author. However, after reading a summary of The Running Man, I definitely have to get a copy.

And also Amped by Daniel H. Wilson. Epipheo makes it sounds like a must-have for a sci-fi novel fan.

Fringe Case #1

Miami Police Shocked by Face-Mauling Attack on Man

30th May 2012 - A naked man was seen literally eating a man's face in broad daylight near a busy causeway. Rudy Eugene was said to "pulls Poppo from the shade, strips off his pants and pummels him," (AP, 2012). He paid no notice to people who told him to get off the poor man and growled at a police officer who tried to stop him from 'finishing' his 'breakfast' and continued to chew away. The police then shot him to death.

"He had his face eaten down to his goatee. The forehead was just bone; no nose, no mouth," said Sgt Armando Aguilar, president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police. (The Star, 31st May 2012)

"The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth...The guy just keep eating the other guy away, like ripping his skin," told one of the cyclist who happen to see the incident.

Somehow I was reminded of all the gory scenes in Fringe; like the one when the victims neck were being torn away at the back.

Eugene was said to be charged a few times with marijuana-related charges with the most recent was in 2009. His uncle said he was a nice and hardworking man. Maybe he got experimented with some secret government project, huh.

Does Fringe Division really exist in real life? Should start to have one now. lol

It Was Not a Good Day

Life can be very 'suck'-ish at times such as today. There are two approaches to face such a day; 1) think of all the less fortunate. I mean, life has been very very very generous to me compared to many people (or so I believe), 2) count the little blessings that make Earth a little bit more beautiful planet to live on; such as replaying that second when 'Dark Daesung' walk in and look at me..and keep stealing glances my way (ok, aku perasan sorg2, but seriously.) ^0^ His hair a little bit too curly and long though.

*shake head*

Ok, back to work now that my mood got slightly better.

Lines of the Day

“When living humbly, there’s often cases one becomes worn out, right? It’s great so many people live so humbly and with manners but I think there are times when one needs to be stubborn and live confidently.” -Gil of LeeSSang

Judging the Judge

I do not expect people to agree with me. No. Even I change my mind on a regular basis because what is truth but a distorted opinion derived from one's perception? So with new knowledge / evidence, our opinion could change and perception evolved; I am not an exception.

But as a mere human, we tend to believe that we are right, our faith has the strongest base, our opinion matters and those who oppose us is wrong. Some blinded themselves from seeing from a new angle, some curiously look around to find holes and the pieces to complete the picture; some reject a new idea without giving it a thought, some just too ego, some adopt it into their previous idea, and some just totally turn around and took the other route.

It wasn't a walk in the park to constantly looking at a situation from other people point of view especially when we are consumed by anger. Yet, an angry man is a fooled man and those who act in anger is a condemned man. I know because I've blown out before too and I regret them.

Seeing the situation Malaysia is now, I say that we are one very angry society. Everywhere you read; Tweeter, Facebook, blogs, YouTube, etc etc, people are voicing their discontentment, using vulgarities and harsh words against each other, unfounded rumours spread like fire and nobody really cares about values and respect anymore. It is as if we are an atheist society without guidelines in morality. Hate is blossoming everywhere..and what is worst, the kids has catch on.

I found it highly amusing to find some (many) people get angry over a joke meant to be natural. Well, I guess Malaysian are angered easily nowadays they dont bother to listen and think carefully before getting into 'abusive-word' mode. Everyone's nerve is running raw it seems. Some (many) people might not agree. Well, people have different opinion; black colour can means depression and sadness or if you are like me, it means mystery and elegance. You might have just been trolled, or you are right. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Even a judge who made a wrong decision after he had tried his best to justly judge a case still get one merit(?) because at least he had tried to make the most just verdict. He is just a human, what do we expect?

Again, you may not agree with me.

Baby(i) Talk

Definition of baby talk:
1 the speech patterns and sounds of young children learning to talk, characterized by MISPRONUNCIATION, IMPERFECT SYNTAX, REPETITION and PHONETIC MODIFICATION such as lisping or stuttering. See also lallation. (EG: mamam (makan), cowi (sorry), cehat (sihat), bibi (baby, babi), appa (lapar), cenyum (senyum))

2 an adult's IMITATION of the speech of a young child WHEN TALKING TO A BABY, AN ELDERLY, OR MENTALLY CHALLENGED. (because apparently they can only cope with short phrases and repetition helps to better understanding)

3 the speech patterns characteristic of REGRESSIVE STAGES OF various MENTAL DISORDERS, ESPECIALLY SCHIZOPHRENIA.

Shifting Fears

I had a busy weekend but somehow still managed to spent hours in front of my laptop (re)watching Leverage for the n-th time. One particular line caught my attention and makes me go "SHIT!!"

" . . . I shifted their fears. . . . Now, they are no longer afraid of losing money, they are afraid of losing the chance to make more money. " - the bad guy episode nth, Season 2.

I was like, I should have watch this again last week. *facepalm*

Oh, btw, anyone interested in doing some Kung Fu Tai Chi Fan (did I even get that right??) can come to Hutan Bandar Mutiara Rini. They got this free class held every Sunday morning (around 7.30 - 10.30). Understanding mandarin is a plus so you can understand the story behind every move, but if cannot also can, just follow the sifu. FYI, they are mostly auntie2. Well, youngsters are too busy dating or sleeping. Just joking. There's also aerobic held nearby if you prefer.

HyperBubble

I love Calvin and Hobbes. This week's strip has got me smirking when Hobbes said to Calvin's need to buy a Hyperbubble; If your emotional security depends on satisfying a need you don't have until you read the ad, go ahead.

I guess adults and kids really is not that different.

Daddy-Long-Legs

I could understand why Daddy-Long-Legs gets so much love. Its originality strike me most and also how Judy's bluntness strike home and left me longing for my own Daddy-Long-Legs. It really is comfortable talking your mind off that way. I think everyone feels the same way. ^_^ How funny, there are more then 7 billion people on Earth, we are more (digitally) connected then ever, and still..

Be Kind

We are all the same; a unique being.
So please understand, that though we are standing under the same sky, different clouds passed us by.

Life might have treated me better, but that does not meant I understand any lesser.
We all fight a different war in this challenging life, showing courage just by getting up to face another day, hiding our pain behind glowing smile. Yes, you are not alone in dying inside but still manage to push on and laugh without a care.
Because, because we are unique, we are the same.
So, be kind.

Lie is no longer a lie when believed wholeheartedly. Where judgement is overpassed, trust rusted to dust, faith dissipated; but where it is overdue, pain run like free-flowing water of Zhu JIang.
